To enable the urban and rural poor attain sustainability, by creating livelihood opportunities through delivery of microfinance and related support services, by fair and transparent systems.
What we do?
We work to bring change in the outlook of the poor, underprivileged and marginalized section of population to understand themselves, their society, their political and economic system, the educational need and pursuit and their rights and privileges and help them break the hurdles in their way to climb up the social and economic ladder using local resources. This is an empowerment process to effect social transformation.
PAT started its operations with Children’s Development programme in Trichy during 1997 with the support from Rotary International and ASHA for Education of USA & Canada and later forayed into women’s empowerment programme, educational programme for the children, vocational training pogramme, health camps. Along with these social intermediation activities PAT started Economic Development initiatives also from the year 1998 first by promoting Self help Groups (SHGs) among women in Below Poverty Line (BPL) category. This was followed by skill trainings, entrepreneur development training and Micro credit programme to empower economically the targeted beneficiaries. PAT was accredited by the Tamilnadu Corporation for Development of Women Ltd., an undertaking of Tamilnadu Government to promote SHGs and train women members in those SHGs through its “Mahalir Thittam” Project (Women project).. SHG – Bank linkages were made and a revolving fund of Rs.25000 was mobilized for each SHG to develop micro credit activities among members in SHGs. As micro credit became a decisive livelihood development option to poor people, PAT started mobilizing loan fund from Finance institutions like Ananya Finance for Inclusive Growth Pvt. ltd, India., Maanaveeya Holdings & Investments Pvt. Ltd,Indian Overseas bank and State Bank of India to augment Micro credit service. Initially we covered beneficiaries in Ariyalur district only with this micro credit programme which was expanded in 258 panchayats across 5 Districts namely Ariyalur,Trichy, Tanjore, Nagappatinam & Thiruvarur through 2104 SHGs as of March 2014.This finance access helped beneficiaries develop their livelihood and self esteem.
