From Grief to Grit: Revathi's Journey of Self-reliance through PAT Tailoring Program

Revathi, a mother of two daughter's hails from Neikuppam village near Anakarai in Thiruppanandal Taluk of Thanjavur District. Despite being handicapped and shattered by the untimely demise of her husband, she fought against all the odds to take care of her large family. Her husband Senthil Kumar, who travelled abroad to win bread for his dependant's had met with an accident within two months of his landing there and succumbed to injuries after an eight-month-long struggle at a hospital in that alien land. After his demise, the responsibility of taking care of the aged in-laws, two unmarried sisters-in-law, and her two daughters fell on the feeble shoulders of Revathi. Determined to face the taunting task, she tried to land a job but could not succeed. She ascribes the job-searching phase as the most painful. The failure to clinch a job changed her mind. She decided to take up the path of self-employment and joined the PAT tailoring center at Thiruppanandal. She quickly learned the art of stitching clothes from experienced tutors. Supported by her late husband's friend's she purchased a sewing machine and started serving the clients from her home. Revathi acknowledges PAT for bringing change in her life and term PAT as the guiding light for many women like her. PAT salutes this lady for her courage and determination.
